December 2-3, 11 am - 7 pm: FAD Market. Brooklyn Historical Society. 128 Pierrepont St. Brooklyn, NY.
December 9, 10 am - 6 pm: PS 321 Holiday Shop. 180 Seventh Ave. Brooklyn, NY.
As part of her commitment to supporting the local community, Sol Proaño is donating 5 percent of all profits to the UN refugee agency, UNHCR. As an immigrant who has first-hand experience with the difficulties that come with starting a new life in the US, the decision to support refugees is a cause that is especially close to Soledad’s heart.
After 8 years of designing handmade jewelry under the Sol del Sur name, company founder and designer Soledad Proaño has decided to rebrand as Sol Proaño. The name change is reflective of the pride she has in her South American heritage.
Use of her surname, Proaño, was originally avoided because it’s different...it has a character (ñ) that’s not part of the English language. The rebranding symbolizes the embracement of Soledad’s immigrant status, and the tremendous joy she has in her culture.
Sol del Sur was one of a few select designers invited to participate in the launch of a partnership between Macy’s and Etsy. Our top 10 best sellers are available for purchase at the Etsy pop-up shop, located at Macy’s Herald Square on 34th Street in Manhattan.
Sol del Sur has been selected as one of only 10 featured artists for an upcoming pop-up shop in September at West Elm Dumbo and West Elm Market. We’ll be showing off our latest weavings and jewelry with never-been-used before natural materials like 18 karat gold. This is Soledad’s post-baby comeback...and she’s so excited to share all of her new creations as a mom.
We’re excited to announce a partnership with clothing retailer Anthropologie, launching in April 2014. Anthropologie is known for carefully curating every item it sells, so we are humbled to have been selected and can’t wait to introduce shoppers to our collection. Customers can find the super popular arrow chain earrings, classics such as nudo and crescent sun, as well as a few new pieces. But you’ll have to visit Anthropologie’s website to see what those new items are.
Sol del Sur has been one of the top designers of the craft world for 3 consecutive days on Etsy! And given the tremendous amount of talent found there, this is truly an honor. Soledad hammered and drilled non-stop for weeks to fulfill hundreds of requests, and had a fantastic time doing it. Here’s how it looked from the homepage of Etsy; you can also read all about it.
